Environmental Sustainability in Manufacturing
Integrated Value Services Ltd has a long-standing commitment to sustainability in manufacturing and care for our environment, investing to minimize energy and resource consumption and waste generated in our plastic injection molding processes and facilities.
We track and regularly review sustainable manufacturing metrics at each of our facilities, including kilowatts of power used per hour and per pound of resin, gallons of water consumed and pounds of waste generated and reused, as part of our focus on continually improving our processes and investing in new energy-efficient systems, technology and equipment to reduce our energy and resource consumption and waste.
Some recent examples of our sustainable manufacturing energy reduction efforts and focus include:
Facility design and renovations focused on energy-efficient systems and construction
Investment in energy-efficient electric plastic injection molding machines
Use of natural lighting in our facilities, including installation of solar light pipes
Use of returnable packaging whenever possible, such as plastic pallets and reusable totes as opposed to cardboard and wood
Waste reduction and recycling are another major focus of our sustainable manufacturing efforts. At each of our facilities we track recycling metrics and continually seek ways to reduce waste – from reducing scrap on the manufacturing floor to using less paper. All team members are aware and involved in helping meet our waste and scrap reduction goals.
Integrated Value Services Ltd also works with our customers on sustainability in design. For example, we work closely with our plastic packaging customers on designs and plastic injection molding processes to produce plastic packaging that weighs less, uses less material, and is manufactured with less energy and waste. We have invested in new high-speed energy-efficient plastic injection molding machines specifically for these applications.
